The Bulgarian Football Union is negotiating with a person from the Balkan countries to be the national team's new manager in the wake of Stanimir Stoilov's resignation.

The information was released by the Union's spokesperson, who said that the name of the individual cannot be disclosed yet.

A senior Football Union official had recently stated that Bulgaria cannot afford a foreign manager.

According to information from the Union, it has received 5 or 6 applications for a manager of the team this far.

The national team scored two catastrophic losses right at the start of Euro 2012 qualifications – 4:0 against England in London and 0:1 against Montenegro at home, which left it with meager chances of qualifying for the tournament to be held in Poland and the Ukraine.

In other news, it was announced that the national football team dropped 11 spots in the FIFA ranking and out of the Top 50, landing at number 54.
