Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
The Bulgarian cabinet received praises Tuesday for its fiscal discipline by the US Ambassador to Sofia, James Warlick, who said many American investors would soon be flocking to Bulgaria if the fiscal policy continues.
Warlick spoke during a meeting with the right-wing Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) at the party's headquarters.
The Ambassador stated he congratulates UDF for their effort to maintain the fiscal discipline and appealed to all parties to support these efforts, but declined commenting on the UDF idea for a fiscal board, saying it is a matter to be decided by the Parliament and by the Bulgarian citizens.
The UDF leader, Marting Dimitrov stressed his party would continue to seek international support for the idea because there is no alternative to such board. He was firm the country needs special fiscal measures.
"We don't want Bulgaria to end in the predicament of Greece and Romania and this can happen only with discipline. There are, unfortunately, examples of unnecessary expenses here," Dimitrov is quoted saying.
The right-wing leader was adamant his party would not carry out any joint actions with the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party and the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms, including their planned no-confidence vote against the center-right GERB cabinet.
