Bulgaria will be looking to attract a foreigner to replace national football coach Stanimir Stoilov, who resigned late on Tuesday in the aftermath of his team's second successive Euro 2012 qualifier defeat."
"I accept Stoilov's resignation. The question is who will be his successor," Bulgarian football association president Borislav Mihaylov commented. "We don't have much of a choice. Everybody wants us to appoint a foreign coach, but we need money to do that."
"This was my last game as coach of Bulgaria," Stoilov said after the humiliating game. "We lost and our chances of progressing are disappearing. Losing to Montenegro was too much."
Bulgaria is at the bottom of Group G and plays Wales on Oct. 8 in its next Euro 2012 qualifier.
The 43-year-old Stoilov, who had been in charge of Bulgaria since January 2009, complained last week that it is very difficult to find a substitute for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, who announced his international retirement earlier this year.
Stoilov had two spells in charge of Bulgaria, the first in 2007, before taking over the reigns again last year after leaving club football in the country.
He refused to back down to pressure and resign in October last year after his team crushing defeat by Cyprus, which took it out of the World Cup reckoning.
