Former Spanish PM and current People's Party honorary chair Jose Maria Aznar is in Bulgaria Monday to meet Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov and participate in a conference devoted to rightist politics.

Borisov is the leader of center-right GERB party, which is a fellow EPP organization with the Spanish People's Party, for which Aznar was pivotal in revitalizing in the 1990s.

Aznar came to be Spain's prime minister in 1996 and served two terms until 2004.

He is now involved in a number of think-thanks and gives lectures across the globe.

Monday Aznar will meet Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov after which the two will take part in a forum entitled "The Role of Rightist Governments in Overcoming the Effects of the Global Financial and Economic Crisis."

Senior Bulgarian state officials are set to take part in the conference, such as Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva, Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov and Minister of Economy Traycho Trayckov.

Spain's ambassador to Sofia Jorge Fuentes Monzonis-Vilallonga will also take part in the forum.
