There will not be a devastating earthquake in Bulgaria in the next 2-3 years because the research has shown an activation of only weak ones, scientists claim.

The strongest earthquake that could happen in the Bulgarian capital would have a magnitude of 6.5 on Richter scale and would take at least 9000 victims.

According to scientists, because of the strong earthquakes that Bulgaria experienced about 100 years ago, much of the accumulated tension has been released and this is the reason why recently there have only been weaker quakes.

Sofia is the most dangerous zone because of the big population and the old buildings.

Scientists believe that the constructions in the center part of the capital are the most endangered because they have been renovated many times and the result of one earthquake on them would be catastrophic.
