The Czech-owned power utility CEZ is planning to invest more than BGN 1 M for improving the quality of power supply in the region of Sofia and in Southwestern Bulgaria.

Ales Damm, Chief Operational Officer of CEZ Bulgaria, has announced that the improvement works will be carried out in August when most of the people from Sofia and the region go on vacations.

“We use the holiday season to carry out the necessary actions for renovation and optimization of the electricity distribution network in the region. When the people from western Bulgaria come back from their vacations, they will enjoy better quality and safety of the power supply,” Damm said.

About BGN 354 000 will be invested in August fro renovation of the electricity distribution network in Sofia and the nearby villages.

In the village of Malo Buchino is carried out a reconstruction of low voltage air network and shifting of the power meters, which amount to BGN 210 000.

By the end of August, CEZ will begin the reconstruction of the low voltage network and the installment of cables in the Sofia district “Abdovitza”.

Other investment projects that the power utility is planning for August include the shifting of power meters in the municipality of the Bulgarian city of Petrich and in the city of Gotse Delchev, which amount to BGN 140 000.

There will also be a reconstruction and replacement of cables, shifting of electrometers and a construction of a transformer in the village of Dolna Dikanya near the city of Pernik, which will cost about BGN 88 000.

Since the beginning of the year, CEZ has invested more than BGN 32,5 M in renovation and development of the electricity distribution network in western Bulgaria.

They are part of the envisioned investments for 2010 amounting to BGN 71 M and approved by the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).
