Rumors that celebrity actor Johnny Depp has been spotted in Bulgaria's southern coastal city of Burgas were fanned after a purported footage of his stay at a local hotel and a couple of photos surfaced in the media.

A man, shockingly resembling Johnny Depp, first appeared in a video footage on the video sharing site Vbox7.com.

The footage, shot at the lobby of a local five-star hotel, shows a long-haired man in black clothes and a hat, walking next to three bodyguards. When one of the bodyguards notices the camera of the 22-year-old user, who is identified only by his nick name pippilongstockings, he storms down to him and orders him to turn it off.

Meanwhile a viewer of Bulgaria's biggest private TV channel bTV, who adopted the role of a paparazzi photographer, managed to take pictures of the man, believed to be Johnny Depp.

“I was forced to hang out in front of the hotel all day long, but finally I managed to take pictures of him, when he went out on the balcony,” the patient photographer wrote in his letter to the TV channel.

There is no official information about the Bulgarian visit of the actor, who is undoubtedly the numero uno amongst the fairer sex, but speculations abound.

Some claim Depp is in Bulgaria to meet French top model Laetitia Casta, who will be the star of the new movie of Bulgarian director Kamen Kalev, whose first feature film “Eastern Plays” became an international hit.

Others believe that the actor, who is also actively involved in music projects, has come to the country together with the UK Band The Prodigy to join the festival the Spirit of Burgas on the Black Sea coast.

Nonbelievers say that the fuss over Captain Jack Sparrow visit to Bulgaria is nothing but a PR trick, aimed to promote the recently renovated hotel in Burgas.
