The President of Israel Shimon Peres will pay a visit to Bulgaria on Wednesday, August 11, announced the Bulgarian Presidency.
Peres will be arriving in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Bulgarian head of state Georgi Parvanov.
The press office of the Bulgarian Presidency points out that the visit will return Parvanov’s trip to Israel in 2008, and “is the result of the high level of the bilateral relations in all spheres.”
The major topics to be discussed by the two presidents will focus, in addition to the matters of the bilateral relations, on the Middle East Peace Process.
While in Sofia, Peres will also meet with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. The last meeting between Borisov and Peres took place in January 2010 during the former’s visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Peres’s visit to Bulgaria comes about a month after the visit of the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas.
