A large group of Bulgarian migrant workers in Portugal have been sheltered with the aid of the Bulgarian Embassy in Lisbon.

The group of 16 persons aged 20-28 arrived in Portugal recently in order to work as migrant laborers in the agriculture sector in the southern town of Lagos.

The Bulgarians, however, grew increasingly dissatisfied with the harsh labor conditions in the farm and appealed for help to the Bulgarian Embassy in Lisbon in order to be able to return to their home country, announced the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

The Bulgarian Embassy has managed to provide free shelter for the migrant workers in Lagos, and has arranged their free transport back to Bulgaria.

The Ministry stresses the fact that the troubled laborers have thanked the Embassy staff for their efforts to bring them back to Bulgaria.
