The Austrian-owned power utility EVN had submitted written objections to the conclusions of the report of the Bulgarian State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).

The news was announced by the EVN press office Tuesday, saying after reviewing the report, the company, which is one of the three main power utilities in Bulgaria, submitted their response on Monday.

The DKEVR audit, after weeks of speculations and media reports, was finally handed to EVN last Friday.

EVN say they disagree with the conclusion there is a need to double the structures dealing with customer service since this is a set back which undermines the company’s policy of “one stop service,” and leads to increased expenses, contradicting the license obligation of minimum, economically grounded expenditures.

EVN point out their goal oriented activities, improvement and optimization of their structures in Bulgaria in the last five years are proof of a sound customer oriented policy, aiming at facilitating clients and saving their time.

EVN Bulgaria further state they applaud such audits conducted by the Energy Watchdog, but they should be extended beyond the power utilities which are just the last link in the supply chain.

In the beginning of April, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, declared the three power utilities and the lobbyists who helped implement the present electricity pricing schemes have committed a “daylight robbery,“ vowed to involve the Prosecutor's Office in the probe and even threatened CEZ, E.ON and EVN with nationalization.
