The Bulgarian state energy regulator will impose fines on electrical energy power utilities based on results from the regulatory audit it conducted.
Official protocols from the audit will be sent to CEZ, E.ON and EVN, which would have to pay the respective fines, said Angel Semerdzhiev, chair of the Bulgarian State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation at a press-conference Tuesday.
Semerdzhiev also announced that according to results from the investigations the delinquent practices on the part of the three utilities did not affect the price of electric energy they are selling. One of the reasons for the launching of the audit were suspicions that the companies are unduly increasing
Earlier Tuesday it was announced that a summary of the Energy Regulation Commission report states that the utilities have committed a number of regulatory violations, with some of them leading to undue swelling of expenses.
Semerdzhiev said that at the time being there is no ground for the power distributors' licenses to be revoked, but added that they will be made to comply with regulations.
He added that the utilities won't be receiving the audit report itself, but only the protocols.
The regulator's chair expressed hopes that measures taken after the audit would lead to a more open and dynamic market for electrical energy in Bulgaria.
