Czech-owned power utility CEZ claimed Tuesday that the actions of Bulgarian state regulator foster unjustified “public pressure” on their businesses
In a letter to Bulgarian media, CEZ protested the way the Bulgarian state regulator has proceeded in announcing results from an investigation on electricity distribution in the country.
CEZ is among three foreign-owned utilities under audit by State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation about regarding various internal practices. The other two are German E.ON and Austrian EVN.
The letter, signed by CEZ regional manager Jan Vavera, states that it has not received yet the final report from the commission and has had to learn about the alleged results of the audit from the media.
It also says that it has not been notified about the publication of a summary of the report on the regulator's official website.
Meanwhile, Bulgarian Darik Radio reported that upon contacting E.ON and EVN, representatives from both also said that they have not been officialy notified of the report and thus have no full and correct information about its contents.
CEZ states that this turn of events follows earlier actions on the part of the Energy Regulation Committee, in which it announced to media results from the audit which were not backed by official documents.
“This has resulted in an unheard and unsubstantiated public pressure on our companies in Bulgaria, without them having the opportunity to correctly present true information and defend themselves”, says the letter.
CEZ assures that it is working “professionally, openly, and fully transparently”, saying that it will come up with an official position on that matter after receiving the commission's full report in the due way mandated by regulations.
