Bulgarian steelmaker Radomir Metal Industries, the biggest plant in the town of Radomir, Western Bulgarian, has announced plans for building a solar park on its territory.

The solar panels will be spread on an area of 140ha in an industrial zone, as well as on the roofs of the buildings that the plant encompasses.

The total investment will amount to EUR 120 M and will be provided by two unnamed German banks. The loan will have to be repaid within fifteen years.

"Radomir Metal Industries have the necessary infrastructure needed for the construction which will significantly ease the implementation of the project," the head of the Supervisory Council Plamen Bonev told the Bulgarian News Agency BTA.

The first stage of the solar park construction has been scheduled for the end of this year and it will secure a 50MWh output.
