One of the organizations who announced themselves against the “Sofia Pride” initiative has approached the Sofia's Prosecution's Office in a move to hinder Bulgaria's 3rd gay parade.

The Chair of the Bulgarian NGO “National Civic Organization for Public Self-defense – EDNO”, Svetlozar Nikolov, announced Friday that he has sent a letter to the Sofia's Prosecution's Office, demanding answers to some questions.

The NGO insists on receiving a confirmation about the legality of the parade, as well as information on the way the parade is held and about its sponsors. According to “EDNO”, organizing such an event costs more than BGN 100 000.

“Who are these organizations that pay for this parade? Who are these organizations that want to stand in the way of Bulgaria's being a clean and sacred country?”, Nikolov has asked.

About 10 people from the NGO have protested against the parade in front of the Sofia City Hall. Nikolov explained the small number of protesters with the fact that, in his words, no one is paying them to be there.

The demonstrators explained that they are against the “abnormal” sexual relations, which, according to them, can harm not only the homosexuals, but also the family as a major foundation of a society.

“We accept this parade as an establishment of the gay community in Bulgaria,” Nikolov said, adding that 10 people from the NGO will be at Sofia Pride to distribute flyers about the harm of homosexuality. He also confirmed that this will be their only way of protesting against the parade.

Sofia Pride will begin Saturday at 4:30 pm (GMT+2) at the Love Bridge in Sofia and will continue for a few hours. This year, the organizers expect twice more participants than last year.
