The price of electric power in Bulgaria after July will go up by 1-2%, instead of 5% as proposed earlier, the head of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) announced.
“The new lower raise is due to the reducing of technology expenses of all electricity utilities to 15% down from 18%,” head of DKEVR Angel Semerdzhiev said Tuesday.
“The reducing of technology expenses will result in reducing the price for electric power in the short, as well as in the long run,” he said.
Semerdzhiev also confirmed that the raise in the gas price will most probably be less than 28.9%, required by Bulgarian State gas company Bulgargaz, due to the fall-back in DKEVR's expenses, which could be used for limiting the hike.
The new raise of electricity prices is good news for Bulgarian consumers, having in mind the earlier-proposed 5%, which came as a surprise, since for months DKEVR have been saying the electricity prices would not go up, and might even go down slightly.
