Citizens of the EU countries, including Bulgaria, are now able to enter Serbia only with their ID cards.

In May, Bulgaria’s Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov said at an official meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic, that soon EU citizens will be able to enter Serbia only with ID cards, without having to use passports. Dacic agreed with Tsvetanov and expressed his hope that there will be reciprocity by the EU in terms of liberalizing the visa regime for Serbian citizens.

In April, the Serbian government allowed EU citizens to enter the country with their ID cards only as a temporary measure at the time when the volcanic-ash crisis halted air-traffic through Europe.
