US Deputy Secretary of State, James Steinberg, is in Sofia for meetings with the Bulgarian government.

The US Deputy Secretary of State arrived Wednesday night to Bulgaria from Sarajevo, where he was part of the EU-Western Balkans summit, organized by the Spanish EU Presidency.

Steinberg is meeting Thursday morning with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov, and Defense Minister Anyu Angelov.

Steinberg's visit comes just one week after the trip to Sofia of CIA Director, Leon Panetta and after the May 20 visit of NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
