The international environmental organization WWF is holding Saturday, for the third time in a row, a campaign to clean the 11 natural parks in Bulgaria.
The volunteers, which include citizens, popular actors, journalists, musicians and the US Ambassador to Bulgaria, James Warlick, are cleaning and repairing infrastructure and markings in tourist areas and mountain paths.
Those, who are cleaning the Vitosha Mountain, near the capital Sofia, met at 10 am in the area known as “Zlatnite Mostove” (Golden Bridges).
The motto of the initiative is: “Nature is Our Home – Stop the Dirty Tricks.” In addition to the Vitosha Mountain, it includes the Rila Monastery, the beach resort “Golden Sands,”, the Stara Planina area near the city of Vratsa, the valley of the Rusenski Lom River, the Strandzha Mountain, the plateau near the city of Shumen, the natural site “Bulgarka” near the city of Gabrovo, the “Blue Stones” near the city of Sliven, “Persina” near the town of Belene and Belasitsa.
