The Interior Ministers of Bulgaria and Serbia have singed an agreement for a Joint Contact Center for Police and Customs Cooperation.
Bulgaria’s Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic sealed the deal as part of the program of a visit of a Bulgarian state delegation to Belgrade led by PM Boyko Borisov.
The Joint Contact Center is to be set up on Bulgarian territory at the Kalotina Border Crossing Point, and will be established according to latest best EU practices, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
It is supposed to give the police and customs authorities of the two countries to exchange information more quickly and to take joint actions when necessary.
According to the Interior Ministry, the new Joint Contact Center will be instrumental in helping the Bulgarian and Serbian authorities to crack down on organized crime, illegal migration and human trafficking, and contraband.
