Grim Discovery in Sofia's Zapaden Park: Body Found with Hands Tied
In a chilling turn of events, the lifeless body of a man was discovered in Sofia's "Zapaden Park" yesterday, as reported by NovaTV
Bulgaria will be represented at the funeral ceremony of Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, by President, Georgi Parvanov, and Foreign Affairs Minister, Nikolay Mladenov.
The information was reported Tuesday by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vesela Cherneva.
“This is a huge loss for all of us. Many friends of Bulgaria are among those who died and with many of them we walked together on the road to NATO and the EU,” Cherneva said.
Polish President Lech Kaczynski will be buried on Sunday, April 18, 2010.
Kaczynski, his wife Maria and 94 others, including many top defense officials and public figures, died Saturday when their TU-154 government aircraft crashed en route to a war memorial service in Russia to commemorate the Polish victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre.
Russian investigators suspect that pilot error caused the tragedy and have ruled out technical failure. They say the pilots were warned that they were flying too low just before the plane clipped tree-tops in heavy fog, and crashed.
This is the first time ever when a President and a First Lady die at once. Maria Kaczynska's body was also identified Monday and is being transported from Moscow to Warsaw on Tuesday. The funeral will be held, in the presence of foreign dignitaries and officials, after all bodies arrive in Poland. The initial date, announced by the Polish administration, was Saturday, April 17.
