Famous Bulgarian actor and comedian Ivan Balsamadzhiev died on Satursday, the Union of Bulgarian Actors announced.

Balsamadzhiev (born 1953 in the town of Troyan) has over 70 parts in theaters in Vidin, Pernik, and Sofia. He has starred in four Bulgarian feature films.

After 1991, he worked as a freelance actor and TV show host, and is remembered as one of the most famous Bulgarian comedians from the early 1990s.

Balsamadzhiev was diagnosed with cancer in 1999 when he was told he had three months left to live. Subsequently, he recovered and published a biography entitled “The Fight against Evil Inside Me”.
