Bulgaria's center-right government is planning to sale state-owned property abroad, worth BGN 8 M, by the end of the year, the foreign minister announced.

Talking to the morning broadcast of Nova TV channel, Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov pointed out that three properties abroad have already been slated for sale, but refused to disclose the countries, where they were situated.

“The properties to be sold are those whom the state does not need any more, such as embassies that have been closed,” the minister said, adding that a number of diplomatic missions will be dismissed or their staff will be reduced.

Minister Mladenov commented that 15% of the staff in his department has already been laid off and this is a trend that will continue.

He suggested that Bulgaria should look for business partners beyond the European Union and Russia, pointing as an example the visit of a governmental delegation to Qatar and Kuwait this week.
