The Greek Ministry of Social Policy will assist in the search for owners of Greek tailoring companies in Bulgaria, who have fled back to Greece to avoid paying their workers.
The news were made after the meeting between Bulgaria's Social Minister, Totyu Mladenov, and his Greek counterpart, Andreas Loverdos, in Athens Monday.
The Greek investigators will arrive in Sofia within 20 days to report on the results of the probe.
Mladenov also raised the issue of insurance for Bulgarians living in Greece. They are estimated at 150 000 people and another 80 000 are expected to arrive as seasonal workers. The two Ministers further discussed their cabinets' anti-crisis measures and efforts to limit unemployement.
Other topics included Greek investments in Bulgaria which were put on the table during talks with the Trade and Industrial Chamber in Athens. Special units of the Chamber will be created in Bulgaria to train staff, according to the needs while the Greek will use Bulgaria's experience in the absorption of funds from the EU operational program “Human Resources.”
