Cooperation between the security services of Bulgaria and the United Kingdom and opportunities for Bulgarian workers there will top the agenda on the second day of the prime minister visit to London.

Boyko Borisov is being accompanied by a delegation including the Deputy PM and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, and Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov.

On Monday, The Bulgarian Prime Minister will have talks with his UK counterpart, Gordon Brown. Borisov also plans to meet representatives of the Conservative, opposition party, and the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow.

The Deputy PM and the Foreign Minister will have their own discussions with their UK counterparts, before the Bulgarian delegation returns to Sofia on Monday evening. During the brief diplomatic visit, Simeon Djankov, Minister of Finance, will assume the role of acting Bulgarian Prime Minister.

The British government approved in October 2006 measures to curb immigration to the UK from Romania and Bulgaria, making food processing and agriculture the only sectors initially opened to "less skilled" workers from the two countries.

The restrictions were extended under pressure over the number of foreign workers coming into the country.

The UK Government failed to put any limits on arrivals from the ten countries that joined the EU in 2004, triggering a massive and unexpected influx, mainly of Poles, which led to the ban on Romanians and Bulgarians in 2007.
