Turkish soldiers of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) secure the scene of a suicide car bomb attack, targeting a convoy of United States military personnel, near their military base in Kabul, where Bulgarian rangers are also housed. Ph
The US Phoenix Military Base in Kabul had been attacked by a car bomb around 4:45 pm local time.
The Military Base in Afghanistan houses part of the Bulgarian contingent, but no Bulgarian rangers have been injured from the blast.
The bomb has exploded at the Base’s main entrance, wounding several ISAF servicemen and 5 Afghani citizens. The blast caused significant material damage.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility about the attack which comes on the heels of numerous arrests of people suspect in organizing the last week bombings on government buildings in Kabul.
4 Bulgarian rangers were injured during a Sunday night Taliban rocket attack on the airport in Kandahar. 3 sustained serious injuries with one of them still in critical condition.
