NATO will Deploy Patriot Air Defense Systems in Ukraine
NATO has announced plans to send Patriot air defense systems to the embattled nation
Bulgarian Defense Minister has called Taliban claims that the rocket attack on the NATO Air Base in Kandahar was targeted personally at him “absurd”.
It was reported late Monday by the center to monitor Islamist websites SITE that a message on a Taliban web-site said that “6 rockets had been fired in a fatal attack” on the base one landing 200 meters away from Mladenov.
The Taliban web-site added; “Mladenov was the main target of the attack,” referring to a Taliban rocket attack that hit the Kandahar NATO Air Base late Sunday night during the visit of the Mladenov. Four Bulgarian rangers serving in Afghanistan were wounded, three seriously.
Mladenov refuted the Taliban’s claims on his return to Bulgaria late Monday; "First, in the region there were not fired six rockets, only one. This is certainly confirmed by the command. NATO knew the place from where it was launched. It is an unruly missile of Chinese production, 107 mm projectile - it can never be directed at a specific person, so this information does not correspond to the truth."
