Bulgarian Minister of Defense Nikolay Mladenov has visited the Kabul headquarters of the Bulgarian NATO military contingent, as part of his five-day visit to Afghanistan.
The Bulgarian servicemen met with the Minister, and asked several vital questions related to the stat of their equipment, delayed payments and other professional and personal issues.
Also present at the meeting was the Commander of the Joint Operational Command, Lieutenant General Atanas Samandov.
Mladenov clarified recent amendments to the Defence and Armed Forces Act in connection with the retirement age for servicemen, indemnities, and bonuses.
Later on Friday the Bulgarian delegation conferred with the US Commander of the base Colonel Josef Hoffmann, who thanked Mladenov for the excellent service of the Bulgarian contingent in Afghanistan.
He stressed that there are no outstanding issues regarding operations and logistics. Special attention was paid to preparations for the new military camp to be set up to accommodate Bulgarian servicemen.
