Noah Gal-Gendler, Israeli Ambassador to Bulgaria since 2006, has welcomed the announcement on Thursday that PM Borisov is to visit Israel in a few days' time.

He commented that, given this would be one of Borisov's first official visits abroad as Bulgarian Prime Minister, it could indicate a reassessment of relationships between the two countries, which might have been somewhat "overlooked" for some time.

Gendler said that he expected there would be an open agenda, with both countries putting forward new proposals for development and cooperation.

From the point of view of Israeli investors in Bulgaria, the Ambassador defined four principal spheres of cooperation: high technologies, including research and development, participation in infrastructure projects including environment and water treatment, tourism and cooperation in the field of medicine.

Gendler stated his opinion that Bulgaria's Government would take all possible efforts to improve the image of Bulgaria in Europe and around the world, adding that the visit to Israel was a step in the right direction.

He commented that the two countries had traditionally enjoyed very good bilateral relations and that now was an opportune time to attempt to broaden political and strategic relations.
