Belogradchik has seen its first snow of the Bulgarian Winter with a snow cover of over 2 cm already being reported from the area.

The local road maintenance agency reported that they will begin to clean the roads as soon as the snow cover reaches 5cm. The temperature is currently 1 degree centigrade as a cold front sweeps across Bulgaria.

On Tuesday the air temperature in the Bulgarian capital Sofia dropped sharply by 12 degrees centigrade between 8:30 and 9:30 am.

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrated Petkovden on Wednesday October 14, a day that marked the beginning of the Bulgarian Winter.
