Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, broke the ground of a new factory for men clothing in the village of Venets, near the city of Shumen.
"500 new job openings, this is a true anti-crisis measure. More salaries for more workers are a sound way to deal with the negative effects of the crisis. Our goal is to make investments in regions with high unemployment and abundant work force," Borisov said at the official ceremony Friday.
The factory, which will manufacture clothes of leading international designers, is going to open in eight months and provide 500 jobs. The investment is estimated at EUR 2 M.
Borisov further explained that the main goal of the cabinet by the end of 2009 is to fill the huge budget hole, left by his predecessor, socialist PM, Sergey Stanishev, adding, unfortunately, the end of the crisis was not yet even near.
The 2010 priorities will include infrastructure projects, according to the PM.
Culture Minister, Vezhdi Rashidov, several Members of the Parliament, the Governor of the Shumen Region, Dimitar Aleksandrov and local mayors also attended the ceremony.
Before the ground breaking, Borisov asked the policemen to move away because the officials gathered in Venets did not need protection from the Bulgarian people.
Later, the PM opened a new Lukoil gas station near the village of Venets.
