The tragedy in Macedonia's Ohrid, in which a tourist ship sank killing 15 Bulgarian tourists, might repeat in the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Burgas.

This warning has been issued by Captain Zhivko Petrov, head of the Burgas Directorate of the Maritime Administration Executive Agency, BGNES reported.

Captain Petrov has stated he had warned repeatedly about the bad condition of the two quays for tourist boats - at the Port of Burgas, and on the St. Anastasia island.

He has issued an order forbidding the use of the quays, which are in a bad condition, two years ago but, in his words, no one had been obeying it.

"This is a huge problem. I have alerted the District Administration as well. The tourist boats attracting Bulgarian and foreign tourists for cruises between Burgas and St. Anastasia Island have been doing this activity illegally for years," Captain Petrov is quoted as saying.

In his words, not only are the two quays in a dangerous condition but they are also in need of one person each who should watch for the boat traffic.
