Bulgaria expects the support of the World Health Organization for obtaining the needed quantities of vaccines for the A (H1N1) swine flu virus.
This has been announced Tuesday by the Bulgaria Health Minister, Bozhidar Nanev, during a meeting with the candidate for Regional Director of the WHO European Bureau, Prof. Agis Tsouros.
"The A (H1N1) pandemic lays the necessity of serious prevention. However countries like Bulgaria face difficulties accessing the needed quantities, because significant amounts of the vaccines have already been prepaid by the big countries", Dr. Nanev said.
He defined as urgent tasks change the health insurance model, and restructuring the hospitals. In his words, the creation of a second health insurance institution will help solving the problem with the insufficient funding of the health system.
The optimization of the number of hospitals in Bulgaria will contribute to the significant increase in funds effectiveness, and will provide better conditions for patients, Nanev said.
