Valentin Panchev, Head of the "Delivery" Directorate at Bulgaria's Interior Ministry has been dismissed from his post Tuesday.

Panchev was discharged over the scandal with the purchase of the 1,000 so-called "golden" printers and consumables for them for a total of nearly BGN 2,8 M.

The deal includes the delivery of Chinese-made color laser printers for the cost of BGN 1,400 for one printer, while other suppliers list the prices between BGN 300 and 400.

The deadline for the delivery was July 27, 2009. Panchev had a power of attorney letter from the former Interior Minister, Mihail Mikov, to conduct procedures and sign contracts.

Panchev had committed irregularities in signing the contract with the company supplier of the printers, despite orders from the new Interior leadership to coordinate all of his actions with the Deputy Interior Minister and the Ministry's Chief of Staff.

The case is going to be referred to the Prosecutor's Office
