Bulgaria's Minister of Transport, IT and Communications, Alexander Tsvetkov, has suspended the purchase of two government jets.
After studying the contract made by the previous government for the purchasing of two Airbus A319 jets, Tsvetkov has informed the prosecutor's office regarding irregularities and suspended the loan payments.
According to Tsvetkov the previous government had signed the contract without having enough money to pay. A lease payment of BGN 2,8 M has been suspended that was set to be paid on Friday.
The total payment in the contract for the planes is USD 109 M, of that BGN 14 M has already been paid. Tsvetkov stated that his team had already found a cheaper offer to buy two brand new jets of USD 84 M.
