Bulgaria's GERB Party May Back Compulsory Voting
Supporters of center-right party GERB tend to back the adoption of compulsory voting, according to GERB MP and former Bulgarian Labor Minister Totyu Mladenov.
New Bulgarian Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Totyu Mladenov, has proposed stopping pensioner's state funded holidays and instead investing in social kitchens.
Mladenov will put his proposal forward to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. He stated that the money that is saved from the pensioner's holiday program can be used to help the poorest pensioners to have enough to eat.
The active ageing program that currently provides holidays for selected pensioners on the coast and in the mountains costs the government over BGN 2 M. Mladenov has proposed that all municipalities should apply for the social kitchens to help the poorest pensioners in their region.
Mladenov continued that he will be ready with a full analysis of the Bulgarian labor market and will propose changes in many spheres when the analysis has been completed.
Mladenov concluded that he will also look in detail at the "From Social Benefits to Employment" program as he said that only 8% of the people in the program have received job placements.
