Yane Yanev to Advise Bulgaria’s PM Borisov on Fight against Corruption
Yane Yanev, leader of the marginal conservative Order Law and Justice (RZS) party, has been appointed advisor at the Council of Ministers.
Bulgarian conservative leader, Yane Yanev, said Monday it was not clear whether the head of Bulgaria's National Security Agency (DANS), Petko Sertov, had voluntarily resigned.
Yanev, who is chair of the "Order, Law, Justice" (RZS) party and the Parliamentary Anti-corruption Committee, commented Monday on Sertov's resignation in an interview for BGNES.
He refused to discuss PM Boyko Borisov's nomination of Tsvetlin Yovchev for new head of the State National Security Agency (DANS). Yanev's motive is that RZS has given Borisov and his government six months in which they can do whatever they want in order to take the full political responsibility.
"However, this does not mean that RZS will not follow all his moves in the next six months", he said.
Yanev promised that in the newly elected National Assembly there will be clear rules for easy and fast communication and cooperation between the Parliament Committee and DANS.
After a meeting on Friday in which Sertov handed in his resignation, Borisov announced Monday that he had accepted Sertov's decision. He also received Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov's agreement before accepting the resignation
The nomination of Tsvetlin Yovchev Yovchev as the new Director of DANS was also put forward by Borisov, again after the agreement of Parvanov. The nomination will be voted on by the Council of Ministers on August 5.
