Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
One of the leaders of the rightist Blue Coalition has described the attempt of the GERB party to form a minority government in a state of crisis as an experiment, which must not be done.
Martin Dimitrov made that comment shortly after GERB's leader, Boyko Borisov, received the mandate for forming a new government.
Bulgaria's President, Georgi Parvanov, handed him the mandate to appoint new cabinet earlier on Thursday.
"A minority government in a state of crisis is an experiment, which must not be done. We respect GERB's right to try this option, but this concerns all Bulgarians, after all... To go alone in such a difficult battle is too unreal... In politics, no one has the right to take offense, because eventually there must be results", Dimitrvo said.
In his words, despite the objections, the Blue Coalition will back GERB's government, because otherwise the mandate will go to the socialist from BSP.
Dimitrov also reminded that in the fall, the new government would have to revise the 2009 budget, and anti-crisis measure must be passed through the Parliament. GERB is taking great responsibility in a very difficult moment for Bulgaria, he added.
