Two persons perished in a hellish crash on Bulgaria's northern highway "Hemus" Thursday night.

The two were traveling in a BMW when the driver lost control of the car, and hit an electricity pole along the highway close to the village of Churek, the Interior Ministry has announced.

The great speed at which the car hit the pole affected the local electricity distribution network, and caused a power outage in the village.

The accident is under investigation.
