The intergovernmental agreement on the Nabucco gas pipeline project might be signed in the coming weeks.
This was announced Friday by Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH's CEO, Reinhard Mitchek, at a conference "Caspian Oil and Gas 2009" in Baku.
He said the preparation of this document was almost completed, and all issues regarding the legislation of the project member-states had been settled.
He also announced that the gas pipeline capacity might reach 65 billion cubic meters at the final stage, although, at the first stage it will provide only 8-10 billion cubic meters.
The pipe will be allegedly filled by Caspian, specifically Azerbaijan gas.
The second stage envisions the gas pipeline capacity of 20 billion cubic meters.
Mitchek said today the cost of the project is estimated at EUR 7 B.
EBRD, Bulgaria and Hungary are ready to provide 25%. He believes there will not be any problem with the project financing.
