Over 1000 policemen will work round-the-clock during the weekend to provide security for two major events taking place in Bulgaria's capital Sofia.

The city will be under tight security measures over the much anticipated Saturday evening football game from the World Cup qualifiers between Bulgaria and Ireland and the elections for European Parliament (EP) held Sunday.

The entire staff of the Interior Ministry is scheduled to work over the weekend to provide security and public order at the game and on Election Day.

The Interior appeals to citizens to collaborate with authorities, keep calm and tolerant, remain vigilant and signal about incidents of violence, disorderly conduct and excessive alcohol consumption.
