The student who has been diagnosed as the first person in Bulgaria to have swine flu is in a stable condition.
Ivan Dimitrov from the town of Pavlikeni is being treated at a hospital in Veliko Tarnovo, Darik Radio reported.
This morning, Dimitrov's temperature was 37,1 degrees centigrade, and he will be sent home before the end of the week if his condition remains stable.
Dimitrov, who is a student at Pennsylvania University in the US, arrived back from New York on a flight via Amsterdam on May 27.
His first flu symptoms appeared on May 29, and he sought medical help on May 30 for the first time. The flu case was confirmed by tests carried out in Sofia.
Bulgaria's medical authorities have identified and examined the 5 persons who have been in close contact with the infected man. None of them has shown any symptoms of swine flu but all four are under permanent observation.
Dimitrov's friend who met him at the airport is under supervision in a hospital in Sofia.
The rest of his relatives and friends are under home supervision in Pavlikeni.
