The international credit rating agency Standard & Poor's has decided to preserve the BB+ rating with a positive perspective of the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

"The keeping of the positive credit rating means low levels of loans taken so far, and a cheap access to financial resources", said Minko Gerdzhikov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia in charge of finance.

In his interview for the 24 Chasa Daily published Monday, Sofia Mayor Borisov, who is currently on a medical leave, claims that Standard & Poor's would have bumped up Sofia's credit rating if it had not been for the bad credit rating of Bulgaria as the capital's rating could not be greater than that of the whole country.
