Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Mihail Mikov, has also attended a birthday party a few hours after the hellish bus crash near the city of Yambol in which 17 persons perished.
The news was announced Monday by the Bulgarian Trud Daily, which reports that Mikov attended the party for the 50th birthday of General Veselin Pengezov, who has recently been appointed head of the Sofia Appellate Court.
The news is controversial because on Saturday Mikov fired one of his deputies, Rumen Andreev, because Andreev attended a birthday party on Friday which was an official day of mourning for the bus crash victims.
While Thursday was not an official mourning day, the hellish bus crash happened a little after 9 am Thursday morning.
General Pengezov's party, which took place at the Lozenetz Residence, was also attended by members of the Supreme Judicial Council and other top magistrates
Bulgaria's Interior Minister has confirmed before the Trud Daily that he was at the party but has pointed out that he only dropped by to greet Pengezov with a bouquet, and left.
When asked if he was going to resign over this issue, Mikov has replied, "Cite me correctly."
The Trud Daily reports that despite the rumors, Bulgaria's President, Georgi Parvanov, did not in fact attend Pengezov's birthday party on Thursday.
