Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov has fired one of his top employees who attended an Interior Ministry official's party Friday, when Bulgaria was mourning the 17 victims of the Yambol bus crash.

Borisov asked the Deputy Mayor of Sofia Yuliya Nenkova to demand the resignation of General Emil Tanev, Director of Coordination, Control, Public Order and Safety Directorate at Sofia Municipality.

Tanev was among the guests at the birthday party of Ventsislav Rangelov, Department Head at the Interior Ministry. The party was held in the popular Sofia restaurant, "Continental Plaza" Friday night.

Earlier on Saturday Bulgaria's Deputy Interior Minister Rumen Andreev was also fired for his attendance of the party when the official Bulgarian institutions were supposed to be mourning the hellish bus crash victims.

According to Andreev, the aim of the party was to collect donations to support the children of Interior Ministry employees who were killed or died in action.

According to Rangelov, Head of the Control of Dangerous Weapons and Substances Directorate at the Sofia Director of the Interior Ministry, whose birthday was celebrated Friday, the guests at his birthday party donated a total of BGN 17 000 for the charitable cause.

An investigation of the Inspectorate of the Interior Ministry is going to check whether the dozens of top Interior Ministry employees who attended the party violated the moral and ethical rules for work of the Ministry, and will recommend actions accordingly.
