The 16 countries that make up the Euro zone had a positive trade balance of EUR 400 M in March for the first time in almost a year.
The information was released Monday by the the Statistical Office of the European Communities, Eurostat.
In March 2009, seasonally adjusted exports rose by 1,4% and imports by 0,6% month-on-month.
The news is positive for eurozone nations, whose economies contracted by 2,5% in the first three months of 2009.
Economists had expected a trade deficit of EUR 300 M in March.
