The Somali pirates, who held 16 Bulgarian sailors captive on board the Malaspina Castle, presented them with a goat before releasing them.

Tsvetan Gudev, Manager of the Bulgarian operator for the ship, the "B Navy Bulgaria" company, announced the news, saying that before the ship left Somali shores, the pirates gave the goat to the Malaspina Castle crew as a present.

It is not sure what the future of the goat will now be. The idea of the pirates was that the crew should eat the animal, but the captain of the ship, Darin Mateev Drumev, announced that it has not yet been slaughtered.

Gudev also announced that three of the Bulgarian crew, including Drumev, will stay on the ship until it reaches its final destination in Singapore, while the other 13 sailors have not yet decided whether to carry on past Colombo.
