About 11 000 Bulgarians have traveled to Greece during their days off for the holidays from May 1 until May 6.

The data has been announced by the Chair of the Institute Tourism Analysis and Estimates, Rumen Draganov, in an interview for Darik Radio.

"This means that the Bulgarians who are traveling are doing fine, and are not scared by the economic crisis, they have money to spend", Draganov said adding that the tourist sites in Northern Greece were close and affordable.

Draganov also announced that about 480 000 Bulgarians traveled within the country during the May holidays. In his words, those were a lot more than the Bulgarians who traveled abroad during that period altogether.

Draganov stressed the significant positive effect that the infra-country tourism during the May holidays had on local economies in resort towns like Balchik, Nessebar, and Smolyan.
