The documents settling the dealings between "Gazprom" and its Bulgarian partners regarding the "South Stream" project were endorsed while the final contract will be signed in two weeks.

The news was announced by Russia's Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, upon conclusion of the meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Sergey Stanishev.

"We eliminated the last lingering disagreements", Putin is quoted as saying.

The Russian PM further informed Bulgaria had asked for several billions EUR in credit for the construction of the "Belene" Nuclear Power Plant, adding the Russian side was going to discuss the issue and announce their decision later.

Putin also stated that the European Energy Charter was never ratified by Russia and, at this point, he did not see any reason for Russia to sign it now since the Charter did not achieve the goals it was supposed to achieve.

The Charter provided for more transparency of the energy market, access to companies outside the European Union and more liberal market tools.
