The inclement weather and heavy snowfall has caused power outages in much of Southwest Bulgaria on Friday night and on Saturday.
The emergency units of the Czech-owned electricity provider CEZ are experiencing difficulties reaching the problematic spots, and have resorted to using sledge cars.
The southwest District of Kyustendil has been hit worst by the inclement weather, and 70 villages in the border region are still without electricity. The regions of the towns of Petrich and Simitli in Southwest Bulgaria are experiencing similar problems.
The Gyueshevo Border Crossing Point at the Bulgaria-Macedonia border also has no electricity, and the long line of trucks stuck in the snow is preventing the CEZ emergency units from reaching the problem spots and fixing the problems.
Bulgaria's National Roads Agency has warned against traveling in the southern parts of Bulgaria as the snow cover in the Districts of Pernik and Kyustendil has reached 60 cm.
Over the last couple of days different parts of some Sofia quarters like Mladost and Lyulin also experienced power outages for short periods of time.
