Bulgaria: Bulgaria Goes on Daylight Saving Time March 29

If you are in Bulgaria on March 29, don't forget to put the hands of your clocks one hour forward.

Bulgaria will switch to the summer astronomical time at 3.00 a.m. sharp on March 29th. According to psychologists one needs a fortnight to adapt to the new rhythm.

Under chronology rules adopted by the Bulgarian government, the country switches to Daylight Saving Time for the period between March 27 to October 30 every year.

Bulgaria introduced the time-saving switch in summer and winter in 1979, almost seventy years after it was applied for the first time in Great Britain, in 1908.

Since 1981 European Community (EC) Directives have prescribed the start and end dates of summer time in member states. These are set as the last Sundays in March and October respectively.
